Duties

Help
  • Serves as a Psychologist professional under the administrative supervision of Behavioral Health.
  • Assesses and provides crisis intervention for individuals and families.
  • Makes mental health diagnoses as appropriate.
  • Provides individual and group therapy, using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and client ?centered therapy.
  • Provides individual, couple, family, and/or group psychological counseling using a variety of treatment modalities to adult patients.

  • Must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background check.
  • This is an Inclement Weather Essential position, you must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist:

Degree: A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience providing individual and group therapy/counseling to psychological patients; developing behavioral health treatment plans; and performing bio-psychological social evaluations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice Psychology independently from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education
