Duties

Help
  • Conduct maintenance test flights (MTFs) for UH-60 A/L/M aircraft.
  • Conduct maintenance operational checks (MOCs)

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and certification requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.


Minimum eligibility requirements: Applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements for a Maintenance Test Pilot in the 2181 series as outlined in the OPM qualification standards. The minimum eligibility requirements for this position are below or may be found on the following link:

Certification Requirements:
Possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Pilot Certificate and/or appropriate military rating; completion of a flight test course or FAA flight test pilot course, or one year experience flight testing aircraft. (Certificates MUST be submitted as part of the application packet).

Flight Hour Requirements:
1500 total flight time hours;
250 pilot in command hours;
75 night flying hours;
75 instrument hours;
100 hours of flight time in the last 12 months. (Flight hours MUST be annotated in your resume)

AND

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, applicants for the GS-13 level must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves monitoring test flights, releasing aircraft for operational flights, assisting with flight planning, and insuring aircraft maintain operational readiness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted
