Duties

Help
  • As a participant in the Recent Graduates Program, you will receive both formal and on-the-job training to develop the required knowledge and skill to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to staff in matters relating to information technology (IT) issues involving IT lifecycle management, typically extending to an entire organization or major components of an organization.
  • Developing and maintaining strategic plans, preparing IT budgets, identifying and addressing IT acquisition planning and management issues, and conducting audits of IT programs and projects.
  • Assessing lifecycle needs and developing policies to govern IT activities; providing policy guidance to IT management, staff, and customers.
  • Receiving and analyzing new support requirements, developing information system techniques, establishing criteria, and makes recommendations when procedures/guidelines do not exist for telecommunication and automation resources/requirements.
  • Maintaining agency policy, directives, procedures, and related material for many conventional information management systems and programs.
  • Planning work to be accomplished and preparing schedules for completion of work for review by senior staff; assuring production and accuracy requirements are met.

Qualifying Experience:

For the GG-07 your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For the GG-07 position, qualifying experience is defined as experience assisting with acquisition planning, resource management, and auditing IT programs and projects.

To qualify at the GG-09, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For the GG-09 position, qualifying experience is defined as experience assisting with development or interpretation of IT policies, preparing IT budgets, and developing test plans.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume.

All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT THE GG-07 LEVEL: Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement or 1 academic year of graduate education (or law school, as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements). Superior Academic Achievement: S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT THE GG-09 LEVEL: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, or Master's or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D., may be substituted to meet the experience requirement.

Who May Be Considered:

  • Individuals who have obtained a qualifying Associates, Bachelor's, Master's, Professional, Doctorate, Vocational or Technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous 2 years. OR
