Description of Duties
- Exercises accountability for, and provides authoritative advice regarding, the fast-changing foreign adversarial disinformation and propaganda threat environment and strategies for leading the USG interagency and international partners to counter the threats; policy positions to be adopted by the GEC Special Envoy and Coordinator (Assistant Secretary level) or other senior USG officials; and policy options and strategies for achieving short- and long-term USG policy goals.
- Provides strategic direction to subordinate units on U.S. foreign policy priorities and their nexus to the GEC mission. Directs planning and actions to leverage current and future opportunities and/or scale and replicate best practices in countering these disinformation threats.
- Represents the GEC, at interagency, and international meetings, working groups, and negotiations to coordinate and synchronize USG interagency and international efforts to counter foreign adversarial disinformation.
