Be the leader of a federal power marketing administration based in the Pacific Northwest that generates $4 billion annually, provides about 27% of the electric power generated in the Northwest, and provides 75% of the high voltage transmission in the region;
Collaborate with Federal, State, and Tribal fishery managers in implementing the largest fish and wildlife mitigation programs in the nation;
Be a catalyst for implementing and using new concepts in electric power generation, project development, transmission planning and operations, and conservation; and,
Represent the interests of the organization and region in broad policy establishment at the national level with officials of the Department of Energy, other Departments, and Congressional stakeholders concerning power resource development, interregional power coordination, transmission planning and operations, protection and mitigation of fish and wildlife and new or modified legislation for the industry.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a career position in the SES. Unless the selectee is already a member of the SES with career status or has successfully completed an SES Candidate Development Program certified by OPM, executive qualifications must be approved by OPM before the appointment can be effected. If you are selected, you will be responsible for working with a DOE Executive Consultant or QRB Writer to develop an ECQ narrative for submission to OPM.

Qualifications
MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (MTQs): A supplemental narrative must be submitted separately addressing each MTQ below. No more than one (1) page per MTQ is allowed; additional information will not be considered. MTQs must provide specific examples that address relevant experience and accomplishments.
Applicants must reflect superior technical qualifications demonstrated through leadership and management in the following MTQs:
MTQ 1: Demonstrate the ability to manage a large and complex organization with an emphasis on challenges associated with the Pacific Northwest electrical utility or other highly regulated business. Your application materials should include experience you may have leading an electrical utility, such as a power marketing organization, electrical transmission or distribution organization, and/or advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy development.
MTQ 2: Demonstrate the ability to provide leadership and direction in the development of long-term business strategies in the context of existing statutes and national policies applicable to the Bonneville Power Administration or businesses in a highly regulated industry. Your application materials should include your experience considering impacts on all functional areas, e.g., operations, finance, human resources, legal, public affairs, and customer satisfaction.
MTQ 3: Demonstrate commitment to leadership with respect to BPA’s core values of trustworthy stewardship, collaborative relationships and operational excellence.
