Summary

The incumbent serves primarily as a Custodial Worker with security tasks assigned. This position is located at the Nevada Skies Youth Regional Treatment Center located in Wadsworth, NV. The incumbent will report to the Supervisor of the department.

  • Cleans and disinfects restrooms and resident rooms.
  • Moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment.
  • Performs preventative and minor maintenance as required.
  • Performs inspection of outdoors areas and removes debris and litter, clears walkways, and ensures driveways are clear of dirt, ice and snow.
  • Observes patients and visitors and alerts appropriate personnel regarding suspicious behavior or events.
NOTE: Work requires considerable physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, or moving of heavy items.

This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Upon tentative selection, selectee will be requested to complete, sign, and submit the Addendum to OF-306, Child Care & Indian Child Care Worker Position form. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

On-call hours or standby duty may be required.

Selectee may be required to travel and must possess a valid driver license.

Must have a viable bank account at a financial institution for electronic direct deposit of salary payment.

Security Clearance: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. Fingerprint results and background investigation documentation must be cleared prior to hire. After you begin your employment, your continued employment is contingent upon the outcome of a complete background investigation as determined by the sensitivity level of your position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
To qualify for this position you must meet the following requirements:

You must possess the ability to do the work without more than normal supervision. You may meet this requirement if your resume provides details that you have experience and/or training to perform routine janitorial and custodial work. Examples include: Sweeping, scrubbing, and waxing floors; washing windows and walls; dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures; and emptying waste cans. Work is done by hand or with powered equipment such as power scrubbers and buffers.

This screen-out element is a critical self-assessment of the applicant's experience and is essential for satisfactory job performance.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the above, qualifications will also be determined by comparing your application to the responses on the Assessment Questionnaire against the guidelines found in the Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations, WG-3566, series. The questionnaire will assess how your knowledge, skills, and abilities match what the position calls for. The elements are as follows:

Additional selection(s) of candidates may be possible within 90 days from the date the certificate of eligibles was issued for this announcement.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave is earned.

This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.

This position has no promotion potential.
