Help

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Incumbent is required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.

  • Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain the following training, licensing, and certifications: Explosive/hazardous materials driver.
  • For qualification sustainment, each instructor shall be required to perform two full shift sustainment watches for a minimum of 16 hours monthly.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying law enforcement procedures to instruct on Federal and local laws, traffic laws, established rules, regulations, and legal authorities; 2) Preparing instructional methods and theories used in a Police Officer's training environment; 3) Instructing investigative procedures, techniques, and methods to resolve crimes and other incidents; and 4) Developing course materials and techniques to train law enforcement personnel.

Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service- CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.

Must successfully complete a required Police Training Academy or equivalent course, e.g. Navy Police Officer Academy; a federal or military police academy; or equivalent law enforcement training. Must also successfully complete any annual sustainment training, Level 1 Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) contamination training (if applicable), and OC refresher training.

A 40 hour work week is typical for this position.

This position requires rotating shift work.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position may require conducting training on various shift work hours. Requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, stooping, reaching, sitting, crawling and similar activities and lifting and carrying of heavy objects 50 pounds or less, such as weapons, training equipment such as TV/VCR, overhead projector, etc. Occasional travel is involved to field locations to coordinate training activities. Training is conducted in a classroom setting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed where there is exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness. May be required visitation to classrooms, conferences, firearms ranges and other training sites. Physical exposure to lead and loud noises in incurred; however, protective measure such as advanced ventilation systems and hearing protection is afforded.
