Duties

  • Serves as a logistics management specialist responsible for interpreting, planning, evaluating, and coordinating the effective implementation of the logistics programs .
  • Recommends to superiors any adjustments required to keep program execution effective or develops impact statements when adjustments are beyond resourcing.
  • Leads and participates in meetings and discussions designed to communicate program plans and goals to internal functional areas and external organizations.
  • Prepares formal and informal special studies and presents or participates in briefings to working groups and command status briefings representing supervisor and equipment managers when required.

  • SECURITY CLEARANCE - This position has been designated as non-critical sensitive as defined in DOD 5200.2-R. The incumbent is required to possess or obtain and maintain, for the duration of employment, a Secret security clearance.
  • EMERGENCY ESSENTIAL - The incumbent is required to perform the duties and requirements of the position in the event of a crisis until relieved by proper authority. Essential Position Agreement, DD Form 2365, must be completed prior to deployment.
  • IMMUNIZATION SCREENING - This position requires immunization with the complete Anthrax vaccination series and subsequent annual boosters.
  • MEDICAL EXAMINATION - This position requires you to satisfactorily complete a medical examination for deployment.
  • PASSPORT AND VISA - This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain an official US passport and VISA as applicable based on duty location.
  • WORK SCHEDULE: This position may entail extended work shifts that last 12-16 hours a day. Lack of sleep may occur due to long working hours.
  • LIVING CONDITIONS: The incumbent?s living conditions range from having all basic amenities such as including utilities like: light, power, water, and refrigeration; to having none of these amenities.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify for the position based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: interpreting, planning, evaluating, and coordinating Logistics Program policies, regulations, and operating procedures; Equipment Management, Supply Management Programs and Logistics standard automated systems; Investigating, analyzing and formulating studies; managing machine tools and weapons.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
