Duties

Help
  • Manages the Reports and Analysis Program. Inputs all traffic citations, accidents and incident/complaint reports into the Security Forces Management Information System.
  • Performs administrative office support functions and maintains cooperative working relationships with unit security managers, supervisors, operating officials, and unit commanders.
  • Assists in the administration of the Security Education and Training Program for information, personnel, and industrial security programs.
  • Performs other miscellaneous security functions as needed.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Clerical and Administrative Support Positions; Security Clerical and Assistance Series, 0086.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of specialized security methods, rules, regulations, principles, and procedures to resolve a wide range of problems and perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard security assignments such as determining the kinds of information and supporting data required, and criteria to be applied, in clearance adjudication processes; evaluating derogatory information to determine if a Security Information Files (SIF) must be established; and ensuring that the SIF includes all supporting data required to complete adjudication determinations.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of common and specialized security methods. rules. regulations, and principles to provide technical work and assist security specialists in security administration, and perfom1 a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard security assignments and resolve problems.
  2. Knowledge of procedures, forms, and information and confidentiality requirements related to sensitive personal information to request security investigations and submit to the appropriate government agency.
  3. Knowledge of what constitutes derogatory inforn1ation, the supporting data required to complete adjudication determinations, and understanding of clearance adjudication processes and the information/criteria required.
  4. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate,
    and insert data/information; support office and security operations: and produce a variety of documents and reports.
  5. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating the reports and analysis security programs to meet mission
    requirements and improve the program for the installation.
  6. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions. and accomplish multiple ongoing projects; and ability to locate, assemble, and compose information for reports. inquiries, and limited technical correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Federal Civilian Employees (Includes current Air Force employees): You are required to submit legible copy/copies of your last or most recent SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action, (block 24 must be a "1" or "2" AND block 34 must be a"1"). Additionally, if you are applying for a higher grade (GS) and your SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements (examples of appropriate SF-50s include Promotions, Within-grade Grade/Range Increases, and SF-50s with an effective date more than one year old)
