Duties

Help
  • Set up test equipment in compliance with regulations within the organization.
  • Operate systems at rate of speed and other environmental conditions specified to test and adjust system response, action, reaction, and response control.
  • Utilize documents such as blueprints, schematics manufacturing specification, military specifications, block diagrams, technician data packages, wiring diagrams as guidelines for work performance.
  • Test components and systems for performance factors such as stability, sensitivity, accelerating response, fluid flow, Pressure, range, and internal/external leakages.
  • Utilize automatic electronic recording equipment to measure and record performance actors.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Test, troubleshoot, modify, diagnose defect, and correct malfunctions on a variety of hydraulic and other fluid systems and their associated components.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring positions. Constantly lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally is required to lift items in excess of 45 pounds.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in building that is moderately heated, lighted and ventilated. Work is dirty and greasy. Floor surfaces are usually composed of vinyl or concrete decking and may be cold, oily, or slippery. Work is frequently exposed to loud noise from the movement of machinery and test equipment. The incumbent is exposed to of cuts, burns, electrical shock, and bruises from moving parts of machinery; and to unpleasant conditions from dirt, grease, fuel, toxic fumes, solvents, gases, and air pressure up to 7500 PSI, and fluid pressure up to 10,000 PSI. Various protective devices such as gloves, ear plugs, safety shoes, and safety glasses are required.

    Insures that hazardous materials/waste within work areas are handled/processed within operating guidelines. Guidance for the proper handling of hazardous materials/waste is obtained through formal training efforts and specific guidance issued by the supervisor. Insures that storage drums, and other containers housing hazardous materials/waste, are properly maintained and secured. Checks to insure that containers are sealed and reports any deficiencies to the supervisor. Properly disposes of hazardous materials/waste used/generated at work site. Immediately notifies supervisor of any accident or spill and initiates response actions as directed by supervisor. Since exposure to hazardous materials/waste is possible, wears protective clothing and equipment (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.) as situations warrant.

Army Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM)
