Duties

Help
  • Performs classification reviews, analyzes duties, applies classification standards, and write evaluation statements
  • Provides recruitment and placement support by responding to inquiries and performing a wide variety of technical support duties
  • Arranges physicals, verifies veterans? preference, makes job offers, coordinates Release dates, and processes pre-appointment security checks
  • Uses various Human Resources software programs to create electronic case file
  • Responds to applicants to provide status updates on hiring actions

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

GS-05:

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing staffing or classification clerical support work (e.g., creating/maintaining personnel files, responding to general Human Resources inquiries, explaining application procedures to applicants, etc.); and using automated databases to access and retrieve personnel data. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-04).

GS-06:

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience applying procedures and operations sufficient to perform a wide variety of interrelated and/or non-standard HR support work (e.g., reviewing HR forms for accuracy and completeness, coding and inputting personnel actions into an automated HR database, making qualification determinations for routine and recurring positions, and in-processing new employees). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-05).

GS-07:

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing routine classification reviews using Office of Personnel Management Classification Standards, gathering information in preparation for issuing vacancy announcements, setting pay in accordance with Federal or local pay setting regulations, making determinations on appointment eligibilities, in putting and retrieving data from HR database, and making pen and ink changes to position descriptions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-05 grade level: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-06 grade level: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-07 grade level: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

This is a developmental position hiring at any grade level (GS-05, GS-06, or GS-07). Current Department of Army employees at the full performance level of this series who apply to the 5 or 6 level will be excluded for consideration at that grade level.
