About the Position:
This position is located at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Rucker is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.

Duties

Help
  • Manage, plan, and coordinate the operations of the Casualty Assistance Center.
  • Provide general administrative guidance.
  • Execute services provided by the Casualty Assistance Center.
  • Plans the work methods and ensures accomplishment of program objectives and goals.
  • Establishes local policy on funeral details.
  • Receive casualty information to include next-of-kin notification (NOK) information.
  • Communicate program information to various internal and external contacts
  • Coordinate and train required individuals
  • Responsible for interpretation and application of polices pertaining to casualty and mortuary affairs.
  • Present training on entitlement and benefits, military funeral honors

  • Requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
  • Requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Requires be on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes the following: providing services related to casualty operations and mortuary affairs; reviewing and approving travel vouchers; approving government travel cards and purchases; working in a financial accounting system (such as the General Fund Enterprise Business System). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

EDUCATION: You must have completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
