Summary

This Direct Hire recruitment is to fill positions based on a critical hiring need resulting from the outbreak and spread of the "Coronavirus Disease 2019" (COVID-19), which has caused a public health emergency. Duties

Help
  • Develop and implement scientific policies and procedures on informatics practices and principles.
  • Provide leadership in designing, coordinating, and maintaining information technology (IT) project goals, objectives, and priorities.
  • Develop and coordinate the sharing of health related informational materials so that scientific advice and assistance is shared.
  • Provide leadership in the development, testing, implementation and evaluation of scientific information technology and information systems needs.
  • Plan and develop strategies for new models of health information interchange and automation in medicine and public health.

Continuation of Requirements:

  • This is a Term Appointment Not-to-Exceed 13 Months. At management's discretion, may be extended for an additional year without further competition. Term appointments may be shortened or extended up to a maximum of four years based on the needs of the agency without further competition. Subsequent employment for CDC positions must be through the appropriate competitive process or special employment program hiring authorities.

BASIC QUALS :
A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/) at the time the degree was obtained.

MINIMUM QUALS:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in implementing scientific policies and procedures on informatics practices and principles.

Education

Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the education requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. This position is being filled through Direct Hire Authority for this occupation and is open to all US Citizens.

Salary may be adjusted to include a Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) of 2.86% for Anchorage, Alaska, 10.28% for Honolulu, Hawaii, and 3.13% for Puerto Rico.
