Duties

Help
  • Provides expert technical guidance, interpretation, and implementation oversight of applicable information security policies, processes, and practices to ensure operational availability and integrity of applications, systems, networks, and data.
  • Applies expert knowledge and skills to include customer support concepts and methods; problem isolation and troubleshooting procedures; system and file recovery processes; operating system and network configurations- to resolve customer problems.
  • As principal technical authority, prepares and presents cogent and cohesive analyses and briefings advising management on new technological developments, techniques, and enhancements that result in increased time and cost efficiencies.
  • Coordinates, executes, implements, and maintains the installation, configuration, troubleshooting and operation of customer application systems.
  • Provides advice and assistance to customers and troubleshoots the most complex problems in a manner that minimizes interruptions in customers' ability to carry out critical business activities.
  • Develops and manages customer performance requirements and customer support policies and procedures.
  • Leads rapid response teams in response to customer service problems resulting from catastrophic events such as virus infections or wide spread power outages.

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: providing technical guidance, implementation, installation, troubleshooting and operation of customer application systems.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-13 grade level

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.
  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
  • A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination
  • Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.

  • This is an Information Security (INFOSEC) position. In accordance with DoD 8570.1-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selectee must meet Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selected must meet Information Assurance Certification standards. Selectee must have an approved waiver prior to placement in this position or achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of IA duties. Level 1 certification is required prior to be authorizing unsupervised privileged access.
  • Employee is subject to recall or call back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
  • The Department of Defense (DoD) policy on employment of annuitants issued March 18, 2004 will be used in determining eligibility of annuitants. It applies to former Federal civilian employees receiving a retirement annuity from the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund that are hired within the DoD on or after November 24, 2003. The policy also applies to annuitants (appointed in DoD on/or after November 24, 2003) who move from one position to another within DoD through voluntary reassignment, promotion, change to lower grade or transfer between military departments.
