This position is located in the Department of Defense (DOD) Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Assistant Inspector General for Administration and Management, Mission Support Team (MST). Duties

Help
  • Configures, maintains, and supports the OIG critical system(s) and ensures all service level agreements (SLA) are met. Manages systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability and recoverability.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains the continuity of operations (COOP) OIG critical services, and systems. Identifies the need for and conducts regular maintenance of the OIG critical systems including minor upgrades and software patching.
  • Analyzes and resolves complex technical problems and trouble calls associated with the OIG services and supporting systems.
  • Identifies and evaluates relevant emerging technology and proactively engages in research and development efforts leading to improvement and enhancement of the existing OIG environment.
  • Participates in strategic planning for OIG systems; works with other division staff in planning, and developing and documenting resources needed to meet all SLAs, COOP and other requirements.

  • The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.

  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to the competencies, a qualified candidate's online application and resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) level in the Federal service.

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-12 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience is defined as: 1) Expert knowledge of two or more of the following OIG critical systems: Enterprise Backup Solutions such as Netbackup, Loadbalancer such as F5, Linux System Administration, Microsoft Exchange, PKI, Microsoft SCCM/SCOM; : Microsoft Server 2012 or newer 2) experience advising users and managers on the principles, concepts or methods used within the information technology; 2) experience analyzing information technology programs for ways to increase their efficiency and effectiveness; 3) experience developing and presenting recommendations for information technology improvements; 4) expert experience coordinating information technology development and implementation for an organization, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and DoD Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG); and 5) experience providing leadership guidance of information technology tasks and projects.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
