Duties

Help
  • Serve as the Pollution Prevention Manager.
  • Develops policies, guidance for the protection of air, water, soil and ground water.
  • Interpret federal, state and local regulations for the protection of air, water, soil and ground water.
  • Utilize audits to develop corrective implementation plans for improvement in a multitude of programs.
  • Ensures contract specifications are written and carried out in absolute compliance with all Federal, state, and regional statutory criteria.
  • Responsible for managing permits, record-keeping and reporting.
  • Identify needs and develop environmental requirements build for new air quality and Pollution Prevention projects.
  • Monitor site clean-up and disposal of asbestos, hazardous, and/or toxic waste.

  • This position requires you to serve as a Contract Officer Representative (COR) and complete required COR training within 6 months of entrance on duty.

  • This position requires you to possess and maintain Lead-Based Paint Supervisor Certification in accordance with Lead-Based Paint regulations and Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), EPA, and Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
  • This position requires you to possess and maintain Asbestos Supervisor certification in accordance with Lead-Based Paint regulations and Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), EPA, and Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
  • This position requires you to possess and maintain Asbestos Inspector certification in accordance with Lead-Based Paint regulations and Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), EPA, and Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain Clean Air Act CAA Method 9 Evaluator Certification.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain HAZWOPER certification.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical.
  • This position may require wear and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • This position may require 24/7 on-call duty.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) clearance.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes assisting with one or more environmental programs, such as: air quality program, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, asbestos abatement, polychlorinated biphenyl-(PCB) management, and lead abatement. Maintaining environmental programs in accordance with federal and state environmental regulations. Assist with implementing environmental management policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: environmental engineers; environmental science or a science-related field, such as biology, chemistry, physics, geosciences, or engineering, natural sciences; natural resources management;. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
