Duties

Help

  • Ongoing identification, assessment, and evaluation of all relevant data to support the Agency's policy research and analysis activities in the humanities.
  • Supervising Office of Policy Research and Analysis staff, day-to-day operations, workflow, performance, and resource allocations.
  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative methods for analyzing humanities grant program data.
  • Present research and analysis results through the use of infographics to convey complex data concerning the humanities to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Conduct statistical analyses such as the impact of published research and the effectiveness of grant programs in the humanities. Lead surveys and data collection projects in the humanities.

Qualifications

At the GS-15 level Qualified candidates must possess:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- level or equivalent experience.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: experience applying social sciences research and evaluation methods to analyze grants or projects in the humanities or humanistic social sciences; writing research reports and presenting work on the humanities at high-level meetings; recommending agency policies and procedures based on report findings; and analyzing complex data in the humanities using various statistical software.

Selective Placement Factors (SPF)
In addition to the specialized experience listed above, applicants must also possess the following selective placement factors in order to be considered for the position.

  • Expert knowledge of social sciences methodologies for research and program evaluation in the humanities.
  • Advanced statistical training and familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, STATA, SPPS, etc.).
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing, and reporting both quantitative and qualitative data in the humanities.
  • Drafting scopes of work and review criteria for research or program evaluation contracts in the humanities.
  • Experience in and demonstrated knowledge of the humanities.

1. If you are an eligible Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) applicant you may apply for special selection over other candidates for this position. You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
