Summary

The incumbent will serve as a Team Lead and will be responsible for providing oversight for surveillance research of occupational traumatic injuries and injury hazards; maintaining and managing data bases; analyzing and interpreting injury and hazard data for worker populations, work settings, causes or injury types; and conduction or coordinating periodic field surveys and special surveillance projects, in cooperation with other agencies or entities when appropriate.

Duties

Help
  • Plan, design and conduct statistical research and surveillance studies in occupational injury assessment and prevention.
  • Analyze studies and interpret results to coordinate the evaluation of public health programs and recommend improvements.
  • Publish reports of research in peer-reviewed scientific journals, contribute to technical documents, and present papers at scientific conferences.
  • Provide technical advice on appropriate methods and approaches for improving public health programs.
  • Provide overall guidance and supervision to a multi-disciplinary team in support of occupational injury prevention research.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in Federal service as defined below:

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience evaluating, initiating, formulating, planning, and/or executing statistical analysis of research projects on public health issues.

Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the education requirements.
