Duties

Help
  • Interprets individual's orders to determine and fully explain authorized entitlements and weight allowances to the member and/or their agent.
  • Deems what is in the best interest of the government and owner in determining mode of shipment by estimated weight, cost factors, origin, destination, current regulations.
  • Provides Do it Yourself (DITTY) / Personally Procured Move (PPM) entitlement briefs to all active duty members retiring or separating.
  • Performs clerical and data entry tasks in support of above duties using the automated personal property system, computer, and a typewriter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

GS-07 Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting with informing members of their entitlements and responsibilities related to the shipment, storage of personal property, household goods and/or privately owned vehicles; utilizing automated transportation systems to access, retrieve, and/or generate various transportation data and reports.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
