Duties

Help
  • Administering and implementing the FOIA/PA requests for all components of the NTSB and their supported regional offices.
  • Researching, logging, extracting, maintaining and responding to internal and external requests for transportation accident records, safety recommendations data and other records created by the NTSB.
  • Managing the NTSB's FOIA Program by implementing FOIA policies and procedures and providing information-related assistance and services as required.
  • Oversees the initial analysis and evaluation of requests to determine FOIA requests validity and assures requests are accurately and fairly addressed.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the application of laws, regulations, precedents, and NTSB practices related to the FOIA and the Privacy Act of 1974.
  • Implements policies and procedures to manage government information and providing information-related assistance and services to the general public.

Qualifications

Applicant must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level which demonstrates the following:

  • *Providing technical and administrative advice regarding a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Records Management program;
  • *Providing advice in the development and oversight of policies, practices and procedures relating to the FOIA and Records Management program;
  • *Interacting and communicating with Federal Agencies and the public as the point of contact on matters relating to disclosure of information within the purview of the Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act, and Records Management programs;
  • *Independently processing initial FOIA requests; and
  • *Managing public and non-public records as appropriate.

Education

There is no educational substitution for specialized experience at this grade level.
