    Summary

    Join the team! This position is located in the Division of Regulatory Affairs (GCRA) of the Office of General Counsel at the Headquarters Office of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The Office of General Counsel provides advice and legal counsel to the Commissioners and the organizational components of the Commission on matters of law arising under the Acts administered by the CPSC, related statutes, and any other statutes or regulations pertaining to the functions of the CPSC.

    Responsibilities

    The Supervisory General Attorney for the Regulatory Affairs Division is responsible for activities involving:

    • Managing the Regulatory Affairs division and supervising a team of attorneys;
    • The drafting of substantive and procedural regulations in accordance with applicable laws;
    • Furnishing legal opinions, both written and oral, to the Commissioners, Commission leadership and staff, and outside parties, particularly with regard to jurisdiction and procedure;
    • Providing final legal review of standards, rules and regulations issued by the Commission and other documents, particularly those involving legal matters of a precedential nature relating to issues under the Acts administered by the Commission;
    • Developing regulatory plans, policy and strategies;
    • Reviewing all agency documents for legal accuracy and sufficiency, as well as for policy consistency and content;
    • Serving on the leadership team in the Office of General Counsel.

    Occasional travel - Up to 25% travel in Local Commuting Area
