About the Position: This position is located in the Logistics Readiness Center, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

This position is a TERM position. May be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 13 Months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years.

Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 13 Months, if the candidate is not a current Army employee and may be extended a maximum of eight years.

Duties

Help
  • Issue supplies according to requisitions, ensuring priority selection from highest to lowest.
  • Direct and help in loading and unloading trucks.
  • Check incoming and outgoing shipping documents to verify correctness.
  • Operate forklift capable of lifting 2,000 to 15,000 pounds.
  • Determine storage, planning, organization and arrangement of supplies and material in a warehouse setting.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the employee drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement.
  • Employee shall be required to pass and maintain forklift-certification and driving test.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will participate in drug urinalysis testing.
  • Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program)
  • Incumbent required to sign DA Form 7412 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions identified safety-sensitive under the Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration rules on drug and alcohol testing.
  • Participation in random drug testing is required as a condition of employment.
  • Lautenberg Amendment: This position may handle weapons or ammunition in performing evidence custodial duties.
  • Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g) (91)).
  • Candidate who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not qualified for this position.

  • Employee may be required to work shift work, irregular tour of duty, overtime, weekends and holidays.

  • Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. Work of the position includes a variety of warehouse duties including receipt, storage, issue and shipment of items ranging from general supply items to repairs parts, heavy equipment, weapons, sensitive, classified, and communication items. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Incumbent performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas requiring standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently required to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds and to occasionally handle items over 70 pounds. Assistance is available in lifting heavier items.
  • Working Conditions: Primarily works inside in cold, damp, drafty and hot areas. Subject to injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting and overturning loads.
