Duties

Help
  • Works with the SHARP Program Manager and Command Staff to manage the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Program for the Brigade Commander.
  • Manages the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Program for the Organization.
  • Provides policy, guidance and other information for victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault, subordinate unit commanders, first responders, and those who seek to prevent or respond to sexual harassment and sexual assault.
  • The incumbent emphasizes the commitment to maintain a workplace environment that rejects sexual harassment and sexual assault and attitudes that promote such behaviors.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess a valid State Drivers License and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • May require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.
  • Must successfully complete a 7 week training course and obtain DoD Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • This position involves duties that are sensitive and confidential in nature. Background will be checked against records on a recurring basis while employed in this position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing managerial and technical assistance in programs such as equal opportunity, sexual assault prevention and response; Evaluating programs to identify and resolve systematic issues; Directing program activities that emphasize prevention of sexual assault and harassment; Establishing comprehensive policy that reinforces a culture of sexual harassment and sexual assault prevention, response and accountability. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

About the Location:
Fort Greely is a remote location that is located in the Delta Junction commuting area. It's located 100 miles southeast of Fairbanks and 365 miles northeast of Anchorage. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area to include fish, bear, moose and caribou. Winter delivers snow and ice conditions October through April with average temperatures of 8 to minus 19°F with extreme lows of minus 50 plus; summer temperatures rise into the 70s and 80s with up to 22 hours of daylight.
