Qualifications

For GS-13 applicant must possess a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade (GS-12) level -OR- one-year specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-12) to be creditable.


Applicants must qualify for this position based on experience. There is no substitution of education for experience for this position.


Specialized Experience includes but not limited to:
  • Implementing strategies on multiple use objectives i.e.:
    • Wildlife/Fisheries
    • Forestry/Natural Resources
    • Range Management/Land Use Planning
    • Wild Horses & Burros
  • Budgetary & Cost Management Systems
  • Preparation of administrative records and other documentation for hearings
  • Communication with internal legal counsel

g volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. Physical Demands:
  • Work is mostly sedentary
  • Occasionally involves field travel including driving/riding on rough four-wheel drive roads
  • Walking and climbing on steep rugged terrain
  • Requires operating a government motor vehicle as an incidental driver
Work Environment:
  • Mostly in an office with occasional trips to the field
  • Trips to the field involve riding on rough four-wheel drive roads
  • Walking across rough terrain during climate extremes of 100+ degree heat to Zero degree cold
  • Extremely dry desert conditions to extremely wet conditions including snow, rain, or sleet conditions in an alpine environment
  • Elevations range from 4,500 feet to above 14,000 feet
