The following specialized experience and/or education is required for the grade(s) specified.
For the GS-15 level: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-14 level as a State Office Branch Chief, District Manager, or similarly related position in public land management. Demonstrated examples of experience: Expertise in the nature, use, and management of varied land related resources; experience in personnel management principles and techniques; directing comprehensive and complex program reviews; monitoring and controlling program progression and effectiveness through analysis of policies, directives and organizational short and long range goals;establishing priorities and determining resource needs to meet program objectives to include budget projections.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
Physical Demands: The work is largely sedentary, although there are occasional field trips that involve physical activity in irregular terrain and varied climatic conditions.
Work Environment: The work is usually performed in an office or meeting setting. Some discomfort and risk (extreme heat or cold, exposure to fire) is encountered on occasional field trips.
Ten percent of time is spent on field trips to Nevada field offices where in both field and office settings, programs are reviewed and key decisions coordinated with Field Office management. Conditions in the field vary with Nevada's seasonal weather changes.
There are no substitutions of education for experience at the GS-15 level.
