Help

As a GS-14 Single Audit Program Manager, the individual executes all activities related to the OIG's responsibilities and involvement in single audit activities. The individual independently manages single audit activities for the Audit Division, as well as organizes and maintains records related to single audits. The Single Audit Program Manager serves as an authoritative source and provides advice to Audit Division employees regarding single audit activities. Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the DOJ OIG single audit program through the establishment and execution of sound policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintaining records related to single audits and establishing a file system for single audit records.
  • Determining the universe of single audit reports the OIG must review, performing reviews of Single Audit Act reports in accordance with OMB requirements, and transmitting the results of these reviews to the Department.
  • Reviewing single audit reports to determine whether the reports meet federal requirements and generally accepted government auditing standards, as well as reviewing the reports to determine whether they contain audit findings related to Department grants.
  • Analyzing the quality of single audits prepared by independent auditors to identify actual or potential problem areas, trends, deficiency situations, imbalances, and other weaknesses.
  • Following-up with the Office of Justice programs to resolve open reports and performing quality assurance review of the work associated with single audit reports.
  • Providing technical advice and liaison to state and local government audit officials, as well as independent public accountants, and participating in meetings and conferences to explain audit policies regarding the Single Audit Act.
  • Supervising the work of individuals and providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to Audit Division management and staff on single audit-related issues.
  • Providing input to and revising guidance, policy, and documentation related to the execution of single audit responsibilities for use by audit staff and communicating those changes directly and through the development and presentation of training courses as needed.
  • Integrating existing approaches with innovative methods or techniques to obtain the best mix of project management tools for effective and efficient planning, monitoring, and controlling of work relating to single audits.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the GS-14 grade level applicants must possess 1 year of specialized experience at least equivalent to a GS-13 Program Manager position which is in or directly related to government auditing and program evaluation or assessment that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. Examples include analyzing single audit reports to identify findings and information relevant to federal funding agencies, managing audit resolution activities to help ensure the implementation of audit recommendations, and managing and trouble-shooting multiple tasks simultaneously. Reporting on and performing comprehensive government audits or evaluations of public programs or activities assessing internal controls and compliance with laws and regulations

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade level (or equivalent).
