This is a term appointment not to exceed 13 months/years with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
GS-12: $76,721 (Step 01) to $99,741 (Step 10)
GS-13: $91,231 (Step 01) to $118,603 (Step 10);
NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.
As a Research Physical Scientist within the Astrogeology Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
- Use knowledge of mathematics, statistics, computer processing, and/or numerical techniques.
- Plans, organizes, and conducts a range of planetary science research.
- Supports the development of software tools and their applications.
- Utilize machine learning and related methods.
NOTE: There is currently only one vacancy to be filled; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available.
Occasional travel - Occasional travel may be expected 1-5 nights per month.
