Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Communications Manager, you will:

  • Develop department communications policies, standards, procedures, and practices.  Develop and execute strategic communication plans and materials that promote and increase access to department products and service and adheres to departments communications directives and guidance.
  • Review and ensure that products and procurements adhere to these standards, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Supervise, oversee, and assess the quality and adequacy of written and graphic content that's complex and/or of a technical nature, to ensure that it is current timely, accurate, complete and consistent with Agency content standards. 
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.  Evaluate work performance of subordinates. 
  • Develop and maintain project plans for communications, marketing, and outreach projects.  Manages communications and outreach projects.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:  Develop, implement, and manage external/outreach activities, strategies, and programs for the department.  Develop and execute strategic communication plans and materials that effectively market and promote department products and services.

  1. Ability  to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in order to articulate clearly and accurately information and/or instructions to team members; brief supervisor and agency senior executive managers on work related matters.
  2. Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, and techniques of external and internal communications and outreach efforts in order to function as an expert in planning and carrying out outreach programs of national scope and significance.
  3. Skill in interpreting, synthesizing, expressing, and presenting highly technical data, analyses and complex analytical information for a variety of audiences, including the general public.
  4. Ability  to lead and supervise others in accomplishing projects and other work assignments.
  5. Ability  to deal with marketing and outreach initiatives; handle customer relations issues; and provide advice and guidance in developing or enhancing communication plans and outreach activities, techniques, and information programs.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
