Duties

Help
  • Plans and conducts broad cyber audit assignments focused on enterprise-wide security organizational and policy issues, systems, programs and operations.
  • Prepares and conducts audits and program evaluations which focus on cyber audit objectives, personally performs or directs the performance of important technical segments of the audit.
  • Identifies techniques or methods to use in gathering data and documentation, develops new lines of inquiry and potential audit areas, and assures that work papers are prepared in accordance with OIG DoD audit procedures and GAO Yellow Book Standards.
  • Provides information on the systems and security of DoD applications and operations.
  • Provides technical guidance, interpretations, and instructions.
  • Prepares and/or reviews working papers, assesses findings for incorporation into draft and final audit reports, and develop audit findings.
  • Represents the office on interagency task force established to study specific cyber audit procedures or processes or on joint projects with other OIG DoD Offices as required.
  • Prepares various types of reports, briefings, and testimony that cover all major management and security aspects of DoD cyber operations.

Qualifications

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to the competencies, a qualified candidate's online application and resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-13) level in the Federal service.

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: skill in applying advanced information technology principals, concepts, methods, standards, and practices to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of major complex systems, networks, and data, as it relates to cyber concepts and practices; interrelationships of multiple cyber disciplines (e.g. mainframe computers, operating systems, security products, database management systems, networks, telecommunications, etc.); mission and programs of DoD organizations; testing and evaluation principles and approaches; network management methods; customer support principles, methods and practices; application reliability; performance measurement; and project management methods. Mastery of the DoD information technology architecture; policy and planning concepts and practices; interrelationships of multiple information technology disciplines; performance management and measurement methods and tools; maintain knowledge and understanding of emerging technology within the information technology and cybersecurity focus areas; and project management principles, methods and practices, including developing audit plans and schedules, estimating resources requirements, defining milestones and deliverables, and monitoring audit work.
