Summary

This position is located in the Department of Commerce (DOC), Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), Office of Legislative, Education & Intergovernmental Affairs (OLEIA), Washington, District of Columbia. Duties

Help

The mission of MBDA is to foster the growth and competitiveness of minority business enterprises (MBEs) in the United States. This is accomplished by leveraging the expertise and resources of a nationwide network of public and private sector entities to provide MBEs with a diverse range of business services.

The Duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Planning, conducting, and coordinating the MBDA Social Media and overall digital strategy covering Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, MBDA website assets and other digital platforms to inform and educate general and specialized audiences about MBDA activities and services.
  • Directing and executing a Social Media and website outreach campaigns to support MBDA initiatives and opportunities.
  • Serving as the primary liaison for MBDA social media, website, and other digital platforms to ensure information complies with Department of Commerce regulations and policy.
  • Ensuring the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below.

Specialized Experience:
GS-13:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties:

  • Applying written and oral communication skills and methods for a social media affairs program to convey public information, internal information, and community relations activities for internal and external audiences;
  • Interviewing a variety of people to gather, interpret, and organize information;
  • Creating content on social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms) to promote awareness, understanding, and support for an organization;
  • Utilizing software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, or similar software) to develop and integrate graphic designs for social media posts, website content, and other visual layouts; and
  • Analyzing the effectiveness of social media communication plans to develop recommendations for improvement for a public affairs program.

Background Investigation: To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the Department of Commerce requires each and every employee to be reliable and trustworthy.
