Duties

Help
  • As a Training Instructor (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
  • Serves as a specialized advisor/consultant to the College in machine learning and artificial intelligence topic areas.
  • Develops and delivers subject-matter expertise in leader development competencies, adult education, leader education and management, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Utilizes computer science theories, statistical modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence in order to develop courseware/curriculum for Civilian Education System (CES).
  • Performs needs assessments and evaluates student learning in terms of adequacy of coverage and accomplishment of approved course and/or course module learning outcomes and learning objectives.
  • Prepares, publishes, and presents technical papers in government and professional forums.
  • Prepares and delivers oral briefings to General Officers and members of the Senior Executive Service, to explain technical and operational issues.
  • Researches and produces course and/or course module materials, to include lesson plans, lecture documents, student handouts, computer generated learning programs, instructor/student books, practical exercises, case studies, and course surveys.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes:
1) designing and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level courses; and
2) designing course material utilizing artificial intelligence and/or machine learning to provide learning, testing and feedback to students; and
3) delivering briefings to senior civilian executives; and
4) writing for publication.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Technology Application

  • This is a TERM position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
