Duties also include but are not limited to the following:
Serves as a Pilot-in-Command of a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, supporting district fugitive and prisoner transport operations throughout all of Alaska..
The work is complicated by flying conditions throughout Alaska and performing dangerous law enforcement missions..
Plans considerations throughout Alaska to include mountain flying, flat light/blowing snow, improved and unimproved runways, monitored and unmonitored airspace, icing/wind trends, crew coordination, high altitude/high gross weight landings, and train on emergency procedures and actions under arctic conditions.
Maintains contact with the public, airport personnel, and law enforcement officers from many different jurisdictions in order to accomplish flight operations and coordinate missions with associated agencies.
The work requires physical effort to lift equipment and perform safety checks in and around the aircraft.
Ensure all pre-flight, flight, and post-flight operations are conducted within the standards set by applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and in accordance with USMS flight operations policies and procedures.
Ensure aircraft are properly maintained and reviewing and/or completing aircraft maintenance reports and aircraft logs and trip reports as required. This includes identifying any and all irregularities in those logs and taking appropriate actions to correct them.
Must pass a pre-employment security investigation and drug screening.
A one year trial/probationary period may be required.
You must meet all qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
This is a Testing Designated Position and is subject to random drug testing.
Must possess and submit current Class I or II FAA Medical Cert
Must possess and submit Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Airline pilot certificates.
Selectee(s) must enter into a 1 year service agreement.

Commercial Airplane Single Engine Land Certificate with an Instrument Rating is required

Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum eligibility requirements for positions in this occupation are based on possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the positions.
Certificates and Ratings: Candidates must possess a Commercial Pilot Certificate or the appropriate military rating. (Note: Candidates establishing eligibility based on military flight experience must provide official orders, forms, or logbooks showing their status as an appropriate rated military pilot. You must submit a copy of your certificates and ratings to show you meet the following requirements:
Commercial Pilot, Single Engine Land with Instrument Rating.
Flight Experience:You must possess the flight experience described below that demonstrates the following knowledge and skills:
Serving as a Pilot in Command of a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan;
Transporting personnel and prisoners throughout all of Alaska;
Plan flying operations throughout Alaska to include: mountain flying, flat light/blowing snow, improved and unimproved runways, monitored and unmonitored airspace, icing/wind trends, crew coordination, high altitude/high gross weight landings, and train on emergency procedures and actions under arctic conditions;
Flying surveillance of criminal activity;
Flying through high mountain passes and dangerous weather conditions;
Taking-off and landing on uncontrolled dirt airstrips during summer and winter conditions (This includes short airstrips across over 1,000 miles of rural Alaska);
Working no-notice flight planning, both day and night, over water, for national emergencies and law enforcement operations in all weather conditions.

Minimum Flight Hour Requirements: You must possess the following minimum flight hours. Please include flight hour information for the following categories within your resume/application.
Total Flight Time - 1,500 total flight hours, with 1,000 hours in Cessna 208 (500 of which need to be in Alaska)
Flying Time, Last 12 Months - 100 hours
Pilot-In-Command - 250 hours
Night Flying - 75 hours
Instrument flight - 75 hours
