Summary

This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system. Positions in the Cyber Excepted Service are positions necessary to carry out and support the mission of the United States Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA JAIC.

Duties

Help
  • Plans, develops, schedules, and tests Artificial Intelligence /Machine Learning software applications and other stakeholder missions using established standards and agile system lifecycles.
  • Performs testing, implementation and maintenance activities for projects or major aspects of projects assigned.
  • Provides technical guidance during a significant project in designing, coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining programs and translating and interpreting functional requirements.
  • Performs software development, integration, and troubleshooting on a multitude of systems and develops software onboarding processes and procedures.
  • Serves as a team-leader and project coordinator for all software development tasks and provides assistance to, and coordinates the work efforts of others.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements:

0854 Series
Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

1550 Series
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.

All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

AND

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience performing software systems design and programming to develop, maintain, modify and enhance applications software and responsive web design applications.

Education

There is no substitution of education for experience at this grade level.

  • A three year probationary period may be required.

  • Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
