Duties

Help
  • Providing timely, technical advice with respect to statistical software and code creation in support of applied analytical methods that solve critical problems, promote program integrity, and detect fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Assist project teams with identifying, gathering, and understanding relevant data to support analysis, as well as, assess relative quality and reliability of the data.
  • Assist with data preparation, including data cleansing, transformation, combination, aggregation, and scripts for reoccurring ingestion in preparation for modeling and analysis.
  • Assist with developing data visualizations of results for ease of use and adoption of analytics.
  • Assist with regular training sessions and maintain open office hours for teams to directly ask for analytics software support
  • Assist with creation, troubleshooting, and deployment of analytical processes that span across multiple software platforms; including R, Spark, Cloudera Hadoop, Tableau, and SAS.
  • Examine large data sets to identify trends, develop charts, and create visual presentations to help the organization make more strategic Evaluates program
  • Develop and analyze metrics, consulting with customers, and discussing program issues with management.
  • Analyzes collaboration system performance, benchmark data, and system configuration for maximum performance.
  • Investigates and resolves collaboration system deterioration and/or failures, and develops techniques to resolve hardware, software, and networking problems in system components.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below.

Basic Requirement:

A Bachelor's degree in computer science (at least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus) must submit appropriate transcripts at the time of application.

OR

bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science (at least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus) must submit appropriate transcripts at the time of application.

Note: Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.


For the GS-7 level:

Specialized Experience for GS-07: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-05 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as :experience creating analytical code across multiple software platforms, such as R, Spark, Cloudera Hadoop, SAS, Tableau.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-07:

One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the position. (One full year of graduate education is the number of hours the school determines to equal one year. If this information is unavailable, 18 semester hours will be used as the standard);
The experience offered in combination with educational courses which when combined totals 100% of the necessary education and experience to qualify for this position; or the completion of all the requirements for a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with eligibility for superior academic achievement based on one of the following: a grade point average of a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, class standing in the upper third of your graduating class or major subdivision, or membership in a national scholastic honor society - must submit appropriate transcripts at the time of application.

For the GS-09 level:

Specialized Experience for GS-09: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-07 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as :experience creating advanced analytical code across multiple software platforms such as R, Spark, Cloudera Hadoop, SAS, Tableau.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-09:

A Master's or equivalent graduate degree in a field directly related to the position or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement; or experience offered in combination with educational courses which when combined totals 100% of the necessary education and experience to qualify for this position - must submit appropriate transcripts at the time of application.

For the GS-11 level:

Specialized Experience for GS-11: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-09 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience in creating and deploying advanced analytical code across multiple software platforms such as R, Spark, Cloudera Hadoop, SAS, Tableau.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-11:

3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field directly related to the position. To be creditable, education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university; or or experience offered in combination with educational courses which when combined totals 100% of the necessary education and experience to qualify for this position - must submit appropriate transcripts at the time of application.

For the GS-12 level:

Specialized Experience for GS-12: You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level in the federal service or at an equivalent level, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience creating, deploying, and troubleshooting advanced analytical code across multiple software platforms such as R, Spark, Cloudera Hadoop, SAS, Tableau.

Education cannot be substituted for experience at the GS-12 level.

Education

PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more that 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
