Duties

Help

As a Government Information Specialist, you will:

  • Serve as a FOIA Senior Specialist for responding to the most of public requests pertaining to CDC records.
  • Consistently and accurately adhere to agency policies, rule and procedures related to FOIA.
  • Identify protected information
  • Review the work of team members.
  • Maintain current or up to date policy knowledge and knowledge of current congressional issuances on the FOIA subject.
  • Serve as one of the primary agency FOIA Office contacts with the public and special interest groups (consumer groups, lawyers, representatives of industry and academia, Members of Congress and other institutions) on FOIA matters.
  • Review and analyze FOIA requests and responses and makes determinations to grant or deny records.
  • Write, prepare, modify, revise and coordinate a variety of FOIA communications and reports for the FOIA Officer's review/signature.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications GS-12:

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) processing and requests, making disclosure determinations, and/or drafting communications associated with FOIA requests.

This position is being filled through Direct Hire Authority for this occupation and is open to all US Citizens.

  • Skill in the application of disclosure policies and procedures to a wide variety of complex policy and operational problems.
