Duties

Help

You will rotate through job assignments and perform the following duties:
a. Deliver trays to patient bedside or patient serving area.
b. Set up hot and cold beverages for meal service.
c. Collect and return soiled trays to dish room for sanitizing.
d. Remove soiled trays from carts, scrapes soiled dishes and trays and place them in dishwasher. Sanitize soiled transport delivery and retrieval carts. Clean equipment and soiled area of the dish room.
e. Maintain water and detergent levels in dishwasher, cleans and properly re-assembles Dish machine inside and outside.
f. Remove clean dishes, trays and other serving utensils from the dishwasher and places them in the proper storage location.
g. Sort, rewash and properly store silverware.
h. Wash pots and pans, mop floors, wash walls, and clean refrigerators, freezers, utility carts, tables, cook's area, and take out trash and boxes.
i. Monitor and record Dish machine and Pot and Pan Sink temperatures and sanitizer levels as requested by supervisor.
j. Participate in departmental Green Environmental Management Systems.



Work Schedule:Full-Time Rotating shifts between the hours of 5 am to 8 pm including weekends and holidays

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Your experience must demonstrate experience in reading, writing and following oral and/or written instructions; sanitation and safety procedures; following simple food handling techniques; performing routine tasks without repeated instructions; properly operating and maintaining equipment and maintaining high standards for safety and sanitation; and using a computer for email, training, accident reports and additional administrative tasks as needed.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The work requires light to moderate physical effort, walking, and frequently stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Lifting heavy objects such as bags of trash that may weigh in excess of 30 pounds. Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds), moderate carrying (15-44 pounds), pushing (8 hours), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking (8 hours), standing (8 hours), climbing-legs only (0.5 hours), both legs required, stooping, pulling, bending, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to jaeger 1 to 4, specific visual requirement (20/40 both eyes), hearing (aid permitted), mental and emotional stability, hearing with or without hearing aids to normal conversation level without visual cues, excessive heat, cold and humidity, solvents (degreasing agents), slippery or uneven walking surfaces, working around machinery with moving parts, working around moving objects or vehicles, working with hands in water, working closely with others, exposure to TB and other disease.

Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
