The incumbent serves as Western Area Power Administration's Director of Safety and Occupational Health, a staff function within the Office of the Chief Operating Officer. The primary emphasis of the position is to develop and manage a Safety and Occupational Health (Safety) Program designed to eliminate or minimize the effects of hazards encountered in the administration, operation, maintenance, and construction of WAPA's complex electrical transmission and power marketing facilities.

Monitors and Interprets applicable safety regulations and ensures WAPA’s safety and occupational health program complies with regulatory and departmental requirements. Directs efforts to control hazardous work conditions in support of workforce efforts to accomplish WAPA's mission. Monitors and updates WAPA’s safety program based on industry changes and best practices. Utilizes data-driven evaluation and metrics to measure safety program effectiveness and adapt as needed.
This position requires the incumbent to occasionally fly in helicopter or fixed wing aircraft in the performance of assigned duties.
Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
This position is designated as Emergency Essential.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
