Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Public Affairs Office (PAO), Fort Hamilton, New York.
Develops and implements the social media and public website program.
Works as a team member for proactive media/communications program that informs and educates both internal and external audiences about Fort Hamilton, its mission, activities and people, and its value to the Army and the Nation.
Formulates strategies to ensure that Fort Hamilton takes the best advantage of social media and its digital platforms, which currently include a website and social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
Manages, edits, and approves all web content using a content management system.
Reviews, offers input and edits news releases, fact sheets, briefings and other communication materials generated by Fort Hamilton and its subordinate organizations.
Coordinates with Public Affairs Director for internal communications program using website and other forums based on need.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
