The Senior Supervisory Social Worker is the Program Coordinator for the Homeless Programs in Canandaigua, NY . This position supervises case management and intervention support to the Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program in a team oriented, recovery based program. The Supervisory Social Worker must be able to develop appropriate professional relationships with the staff and Veterans and meet the Veteran where he or she is ready to engage in treatment.
Summary
The Senior Supervisory Social Worker is the Program Coordinator for the Homeless Programs in Canandaigua, NY . This position supervises case management and intervention support to the Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program in a team oriented, recovery based program. The Supervisory Social Worker must be able to develop appropriate professional relationships with the staff and Veterans and meet the Veteran where he or she is ready to engage in treatment.
Provides supervision for the HCHV program in the Medical Center, Rochester Outpatient Clinic, and the community programs.
Provides adequate system to provide Outreach services for the HCHV program in the community.
Will provide consultative services to HCHV, as needed.
Will develop partnerships with community agencies, especially those serving homeless and SUD Veterans, with regular contact and communication.
Will perform program analysis, development, review, and design.
Performs regular chart reviews in CPRS to determine proper documentation, coding and clinical assessment of the Veterans in HCHV and uses those reviews to improve efficiency.
Develops appropriate, measurable performance standards for HCHV employees that move the program towards excellence and deliver those standards in a time sensitive way.
Perform both mid-year and end of year performance evaluations in a timely manner.
Provide HCHV staff necessary training and/or education to ensure they can meet set standards.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS. The basic requirements for employment as a VHA social worker are prescribed by statute in 38 U.S.C. § 7402(b)(9), as amended by section 205 of Public Law 106-419, enacted November 1, 2000. To qualify for appointment as a social worker in VHA, all applicants must meet the following:
a. Citizenship. Be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g this part).
b. Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work c. Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. d. Physical Requirements. See VA Directive and Handbook 5019, Employee Occupational Health Services.
e. English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).
Supervisory Social Worker, GS-12
Education and Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Required License: LCSW is required for this position
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
(a) Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
(b) Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement.
(c) Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services.
(d) Ability to provide staff training and development.
(e) Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers.
Assignment. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. At the GS-12 grade level, supervisory social workers typically have significant personnel management responsibilities for a small to moderate sized professional and non-professional staff, including support staff and professional staff at the GS-12 grade level and below. The supervisory social worker is responsible for the professional and administrative management of an area in a social work service, in a care/product line, or multiple facilities. They provide direct clinical services with or without program coordination responsibilities.]
