Duties

Help

As a Communications Specialist , you will:

-Write speeches and briefing memos, create PowerPoint presentations for the DAS for public speaking engagements, and attend conferences occasionally with the DAS.
-Write answers to QA's when an industry group presents them, work with subject matter experts in program offices for the latest updates, and coordinate regularly with Multifamily Public Affairs Specialist, Office of Public Affairs, and Housing Communications.
-Keep a database of talking points and program summaries for future use in speech writing and interviews.
-Coordinate with the program assistant when the DAS accepts a speaking engagement; coordinating with the Office Directors for attendance, talking points and QA's; and scheduling and facilitating a planning meeting with all internal parties (Directors who are attending & subject matter experts).

The Office of Housing provides vital public services through its nationally administered programs. It oversees the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the largest mortgage insurer in the world, and regulates important parts of the housing industry. The Office of Housing also helps ensure consumers can access housing counseling and provides affordable rental housing through its Multifamily housing program. The Office of Housing is committed to helping all Americans obtain safe, decent affordable housing.

The official duty station for this position will be in Washington, DC. Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

 Specialized experience:For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

-Developing outreach materials, speeches or on-line content that explain and interpret programs or policies; and
-Preparing and executing communications plans; and
-Researching issues and positions of industry groups and other stakeholders and aligning those topics with marketing and outreach materials; and
-Working cross-functionally with various offices and departments, with leadership and staff at varying levels.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
