Duties

Help

  • Provides policy expertise related to conscience and religious freedom laws, including the Church Amendment, the Coats-Snowe Amendment, the Weldon Amendment, and Section 1553 of the Affordable Care Act.
  • Contributes to the development of conscience and religious freedom regulations, guidance and policies.
  • Designs, develops, and implements outreach training and education projects to promote compliance with conscience and religious freedom federal laws and regulations.
  • Assists with the implementation of the agency's compliance and enforcement program initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirement:

Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, that includes independently performing and reviewing a variety of unique and/or difficult research, analytical, problem-solving, interpretative, and evaluative tasks associated with the investigation or resolution of highly complex factual and legal matters arising under conscience and religious freedom laws, such as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act; providing policy expertise related to conscience and religious freedom laws; independently developing and implementing conscience and religious freedom regulations, guidance, and policies; designing, developing, and providing technical assistance, training, and education projects to promote compliance with conscience and religious freedom federal laws and regulations; and/or assisting with the implementation of compliance and enforcement program initiatives.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
