As a Research Geologist within the Central Energy Resources Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
- Evaluate and conduct research on structural processes that impact petroleum generation, migration, and accumulation in priority basins.
- Collaborate with other USGS Energy Resource Program (ERP) scientists to support ongoing efforts to further our understanding of petroleum systems and undiscovered geologic energy resources.
- Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team of USGS ERP scientists that conducts undiscovered geologic resource assessments.
- Prepare, complete, document, and disseminate results of research through a series of presentations and peer-reviewed publications which advance the knowledge of structural processes and petroleum systems.
25% or less - Overnight travel of up to 5 nights per month may be required.
15 - The full performance level for a Research position is GS-15; however, promotion eligibility is dependent upon the scientific contributions of the incumbent as evaluated by a peer panel.
