As the Deputy Inspector General in this position, you will:

  • Provide leadership and coordination and recommend policies for activities designed to (1) promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of FEC programs and operations; and (2) detect and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse in FEC programs and operations.
  • Evaluate FEC systems, programs, and procedures established by the Commissioners through investigations, audits, inspections and other evaluations/reviews.
  • Conduct, supervise, and coordinate audits, investigations, inspections, and other evaluations/reviews in accordance with the Inspector General Act of 1978, as amended, and applicable rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Develop and recommend procedures that establish formal working relationships between the OIG and other government agencies.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Have one full year of specialized experience in auditing, financial analysis, law, investigations, and/or a related field. This experience must include activities such as: (1) administering, auditing, or analyzing an organization's programs to promote and uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability; (2) managing, organizing, and planning work activities for a program or program area; (3) leading and supervising professional staff, either directly or through subordinate supervisors; (4) working towards improving the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of an organization's operations; and (5) maintaining open lines of communication with senior management officials on issues or problems requiring corrective actions. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-15 level in the Federal service (obtained either in private or public sectors).


In addition, you must provide a cover letter describing your experience with the competencies identified below: We recommend your cover letter include examples that are clear, concise, emphasize your level of responsibilities, and the scope and complexity of the functions, activities, or services you managed; discuss the level of contacts; describe the sensitivity and criticality of the issues you addressed, and explain the results of your actions.

Technical Competence- Demonstrates masterly level knowledge of conducting and overseeing audits, inspections, investigations, and other evaluations and reviews. Demonstrates knowledge of compliance regulations and has a sound understanding of administrative and criminal law.

Problem Solving- Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Leadership- Influences, motivates, and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations.

Policy Communication- Develops policies, procedures, and strategies to ensure the optimization and integration of all organization related programs. Articulates information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial).

Change Management- Acts as a positive change agent breaking down barriers to change. Monitors processes and seeks out new initiatives to change or add value to a process or procedure.
