    This position is with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Temperate Tree Fruit and Vegetable Research Unit located in Wapato, Washington.

    The mission of the Research Unit is to seek new and more effective means to control insect pests of temperate tree fruit and vegetable crops.

    • Planning, conducting, interpreting and reporting basic research on chemical ecology of insect pests and their natural enemies of tree fruits
    • Developing methods and approaches to manage insect pests;
    • Conducting field and laboratory research to identify volatile compounds that attract natural enemies and insect pests of tree fruit;
    • Identifying volatile compounds that elicit behavioral responses by insect pests and natural enemies;
    • Utilizing methodologies to identify and synthesize semiochemicals of natural enemies and pests of tree fruits;
    • Serving on peer review panels (i.e., professional journals, grant review, academic) to review scientific research; and preparing scientific papers for presentation and/or publication in peer-reviewed research journals.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
