The Medical Service Nocturnist Staff is a hospitalist responsible for providing care to hospitalized adult patients, identifying problems, and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs during overnight hours. Hours of coverage subject to change based on needs of patient care. Staffing patients seen by the house staff for admission and consultation if it is urgently needed to guide surgical treatment. Being available for acute medical issues that arise on any patient admitted to the general medicine /PCU services.
Completing educational requirements for the night house float staff as required by the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Adherence to VA Policies and procedures regarding documentation, patient safety and utilization. Independently assess patients for admission and disposition when dictated by house staff schedule and regulations.
This is a part time position with the ability to increase to a full time position. The current part time hours being offered are up to 35 hours weekly and 70 hours bi-weekly.
In addition to observance of Federal national and local regulatory, policy, and accreditation requirements governing this Health Care System, this position encompasses the following examples of responsibilities overseen by their Section Chief. Staff physicians require appropriate time mapping and resources to ensure they are empowered to meet expected proficiencies in administration, clinical practice, education, and research.
Clinical Duties: The staff Hospitalist is expected to remain privileged and practicing in their specialty field. The exact privileges and procedures for a particular provider will be approved by the Professional Standards Board. Annual leave shall accrue for full-time physicians at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period.
