Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for planning, organizing, auditing, releasing, and supervising the daily operations of the Military Pay Section.
  • You will review and take appropriate action on fiscal examination notes issued by Field Examining Group?s audit/inspections and other Inspection Teams.
  • You will be responsible for evaluating, reviewing and validating entitlement eligibility for both active and reserve pay accounts.
  • You will post, examine, balance, compute, and extract data from records to prepare reports.
  • You will be required to have knowledge of current financial systems and programs.
  • You will be required to have knowledge of the procedures, rules and regulations associated with examining invoices, military pay vouchers, travel, foreign currency, and other related documents.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Financial Management Level 1 certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting and applying personnel pay and leave rules and/or regulations for accurate pay processing; 2) Performing and verifying arithmetical computations to determine pay entitlements; 3) Perform work in support of budget analysis and administration (i.e. maintain leger, compiling consolidating, checking and arranging funding data; 4) Identifying and resolving discrepancies to update and reconcile pay accounts. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported by the information in your resume.

Education

A 40 hour work week is typical of this position.

This announcement uses the Certain Competitive Service/Modified Direct Hire Authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions.
