Keeps abreast of new technological developments in the fields of environmental health and injury prevention through participation in professional, educational seminars, review of technical journals, and consultations/meetings with recognized leaders in the field. Assists in the planning and development of injury prevention activities and intervention strategies for the area. Conducts conventional environmental health surveys and prepares reports. Types of surveys include sanitary surveys, radiology surveys, health clinic surveys, food service surveys, head start surveys, solid waste surveys, etc. Assists tribes in developing projects and preparing grant applications. Performs independent analysis pertaining to the environmental health matters for the serviced population. Prepares formal technical reports concerning these assessments. Maintains portions of the Web-based environmental health reporting system for Division of Environmental Health Service operations.Coordinates and/or conducts training sessions ranging from orientation sessions to technical workshops relating to environmental health for selected groups of Indian Health Service, other federal/non-federal agencies, tribe(s), and others. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates environmental health services relating to codes and ordinances, disease epidemiology, emergency response, food sanitation, institutional environmental health, recreational sanitation, occupational health, infection control, radiation safety, vector control, waste management, sanitation facility operation and maintenance, fluoridation, and drinking water quality.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
For GS-9: Demonstrate the basic professional knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, regulations, and techniques used in developing, administering, monitoring, planning and evaluating environmental health services programs in order to perform routine and conventional environmental health assignments to provide routine environmental health activities to a large number of programs and operations in areas such as food safety, safe drinking water, children's environmental health, vector control, hazardous materials, solid waste, and other environmental health elements.
For GS-11: Demonstrate professional knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, regulations, and techniques used in developing, administering, monitoring, planning and evaluating difficult and complex environmental health services and injury prevention program issues or plans to help develop strategies to resolve environmental health hazards such as injuries, water quality, solid and liquid waste issues, and vector control hazardous materials.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, may qualified with the following education:
GS-9: 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree related to environmental health.
GS-11: Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) or 3 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education.
