Summary
The National Science Foundation is seeking qualified candidates for an Interdisciplinary (Program Director) position for the areas of Cyber-Human Systems (CHS) within the Division Information and Intelligent Systems (IIS) in the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE), Alexandria, VA.

The Division of Information and Intelligent Systems supports research and education in artificial intelligence, data science, and human-computer interaction.
The CHS program supports research in human-computer interaction taken broadly. CHS projects integrate knowledge from a range of computational and behavioral sciences in order to design new computing systems to amplify humans’ diverse physical, cognitive and social capabilities to accomplish individual and collective goals; assess the benefits, effects and risks of computing systems; or understand how human, technical and contextual aspects of systems interact to shape those effects.
Program Directors are responsible for specific research areas. They solicit, receive, and review research and education proposals; make funding recommendations; administer awards; and interact with relevant research and education communities. They also provide service to NSF-wide activities and often work across government agencies to enable interagency collaborations. Program Directors contribute to the accomplishment of NSF's strategic goals to (1) expand knowledge in science, engineering, and learning; (2) advance the capability of the Nation to meet current and future challenges; and (3) enhance NSF's performance of its mission.

Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics or Social Science plus after award of the Ph.D., six or more years of successful research, research administration, and/or managerial experience pertinent to the position.
This position is outside the competitive civil service.

Ability to organize, implement and manage a proposal-driven grant program, allocating resources to meet a spectrum of goals, including ensuring integrity and consistency in the grant award/decline management process.
Knowledge and understanding of the mission and goals of the National Science Foundation (NSF) as well as how NSF interacts with the scientific community.
Ability to communicate effectively and work productively with the scientific community, peers, and co-workers at all levels to advocate program policies and plans and to fulfill NSF’s mission.
