As an Accountant, you will determine the proper accounting treatment for real and personal property financial events.
This position is located in the General Services Administration (GSA) Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Financial Operations Division.
Financial Operations Division develops financial operations capability, protocols and architecture for GSA’s Public Buildings Service.

You will be responsible for oversight and review of the financial data in systems and procedures related to financial reporting of real and personal property activities. Conduct periodic analysis of real and personal property accounting events and recommending proper accounting treatment.
You will produce accurate and timely written responses, to inquiries from Congress, Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Treasury, customer agencies, internal GSA organizations and the public, concerning accounting and financial management policies, procedures and transactions involving real and personal property. Provide written responses of recommended accounting treatment for real and personal property financial events, that is supported by the governing accounting standards and concepts. Recommend efficiencies around operational processes, system modifications and ways to improve and strengthen internal controls over financial account balances.
You will utilize and apply knowledge of regulations, of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Treasury Department regulations, circulars, and directives, Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and/or similar accounting advisory boards standards and concepts for real and personal property financial reporting.
You will research and query financial transactions and data within an accounting and financial management system including related real and personal property subsidiary modules used in support of detail asset account balances and depreciation entries. Report summary information to management, identify risks and errors in that data and recommend necessary corrective actions within established deadlines.
You will Perform analysis and create reports using Microsoft Access Database tool or another similar Database system.
Occasional travel - Occasional travel maybe required to attend job related events, training, and or conferences.
