Summary

As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will serves as the Branch Chief and is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to staff and team leaders with responsibility for developing and improving program strategies to enforce and monitor the CLIA program in its effort to ensure access to quality testing from laboratories that produce accurate, reliable, and timely results by which all Americans and their care providers can make informed health care decisions.

Help
  • Provides supervision to a subordinate staff.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships and ongoing communication with and provides timely oral and written expert guidance, technical assistance and consultation pertaining to CLIA and related data systems.
  • Leads special projects or studies of considerable scope and depth that are critical to the resolution of Branch operational issues and organizational problems.
  • Serves as the CMS expert evaluator in conducting comprehensive studies of Branch operations and programs by determining procedural and regulatory deficiencies and provides recommendations and implementation timeframes.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:

(1) directing or monitoring programs for assessing health care program operations;
(2) Applying health care standards to provide guidance to stakeholders; and
(3)Leading or evaluating work performed by subordinate staff related to surveying and enforcement in relation to health care program operations..

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current or former Federal employees and current or former Federal employees applying under the VEOA eligibility who hold or have held a permanent General Schedule position in the previous year must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
